Parents,
Welcome to Keystone Little League Baseball - Majors
division, I am the Manager of your son’s team.
Below I summarized some of the details that you will need to
know for the upcoming season.
* Goals: The team goals this season will be to: (#1) have fun,
(#2) improve individually as baseball players, and (3) win games as a
team. We will be emphasizing teamwork, sportsmanship and respect.
*Coaches: Mark Brake and Mac Brown are the coaches. I
welcome parents to help out during practice if they are available,
interested and certified as a Keystone Volunteer (required by League
rules).
* Team: We are the “Dodgers.” There are 3 other
teams in the Majors division (4 total).
* Uniforms: Keystone is providing the
game jersey and hat. Parents will need to provide the game pants and
socks. The game jersey will be royal blue. If you are buying pants,
please buy grey pants with royal blue piping – alternatively, you can just
wear grey pants if you already purchased them for the Fall season.
* Equipment: Cleats must be worn on the
field and a batting helmet while batting (on the field and in the
cage). Note, for the batting cage, the league request that
cleats not be worn.
* Practice: Weather permitting, I would like to host
our first practice this Thursday (9/1) at 6:30 PM (Field TBD). I will hopefully have the schedule for
the remainder of our practices later this week.
* Practice Format: Practices
will be fast paced with small groups and several stations. As our time is
limited on the field it is extremely important to arrive on time to
practice and at least 45 minutes prior to scheduled game time.
* Positions: I intend to speak to each player
individually about his preferences on positions, and whether they would
like to pitch or catch. Ideally I would like each child to focus on
2 specific positions this season (not including pitcher), infield and
outfield.
* Games: Game schedules are in the process of being
finalized, however we will likely play our first game on Saturday,
September 17th or that following week – and then play one game
per week thereafter – the games will either be on Saturday or during a
fixed weekday night.
* Snacks/Drinks: Please make sure your child always has water or a drink for
practices and games
* E-Mails: I will likely over-communicate to you via e-mail. If I
am corresponding with both parents, and you prefer that I limit my
correspondence to one parent, please let me know.
* Team Snap: I
will be using an online application (TeamSnap) to help manage team
logistics. Hopefully you will find it much easier to keep track of
our game/practice schedule and team communications. You will be receiving
an e-mail directly from TeamSnap within the next few days – please accept
the invite.
